Terms of Service
The agreement between you and SizaPoint for using the workspace, its plans, and its AI tools.
1. Acceptance of these Terms
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of SizaPoint (the "Service"), including our website, guest try tools, and logged-in workspace. By creating an account, or by using any guest tool without an account, you agree to be bound by these Terms.
If you are using the Service on behalf of an institution (a university, faculty, or research group), you confirm you have the authority to bind that institution, and "you" in these Terms refers to both you and the institution.
2. Description of the Service
SizaPoint is an AI-assisted academic workspace. It provides tools including Assignment Coach, Smart Study (flashcards, quizzes, study planning), AI Writing, Research Hub (topic and gap generation, survey building, and statistical analysis support), Document Studio (formatting, conversion, and OCR tools), an AI Tutor, and an Integrity Check estimate.
Some tools are available to guests without an account on a limited, no-history basis ("Try" mode). Full functionality, saved history, and cloud storage require a free or paid account.
3. Eligibility and Accounts
- You must be able to form a binding contract in your jurisdiction, or have the consent of a parent or guardian if required by local law.
- You are responsible for the accuracy of your account details and for keeping your login credentials confidential.
- You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account, whether by you or by someone using your credentials.
- Notify us immediately if you suspect unauthorised access to your account.
4. Subscription Plans and Payment
SizaPoint offers a free tier and paid Study Capacity plans that increase document size limits, AI credits, storage, and research tools. Current plan details and pricing are published on our Plans & Features page and may change from time to time; we will give you reasonable notice before a price change takes effect for an existing subscription.
Paid plans renew automatically for the same period unless cancelled before the renewal date. You can cancel at any time; access continues until the end of the paid period.
Pricing is shown at checkout in your local currency where available — South African customers are billed in South African Rand (ZAR), inclusive of VAT where it applies — and in the currency shown at checkout for customers in other countries. Refunds, cancellations, credits, and prepaid balances are governed by our Refund Policy, which forms part of these Terms.
5. Acceptable Use
You agree to use the Service only for lawful, legitimate academic and research purposes and in accordance with our Acceptable Use Policy and Academic Integrity commitment, both incorporated into these Terms by reference.
6. Your Content and Intellectual Property
- You retain all ownership rights in the documents, notes, and other material you upload or create ("Your Content").
- You grant SizaPoint a limited licence to process Your Content solely to provide and improve the Service to you — for example, generating outlines, feedback, formatting, or study material from it.
- SizaPoint's software, branding, and underlying technology remain our property or that of our licensors.
7. AI-Generated Output
Suggestions, drafts, summaries, and other output produced by our AI tools are provided to assist your own thinking and work. You are responsible for reviewing, editing, and verifying any AI-generated output before relying on it or submitting it as your own work, in line with your institution's academic policies.
AI output may occasionally be inaccurate, incomplete, or unsuitable for a given academic context. We do not guarantee the accuracy of AI-generated content.
8. Automated Document Processing and Academic Tools
SizaPoint provides automated and AI-assisted tools — including Document Studio — designed to help you with document formatting, structure, language, headings, numbering, captions, citations, references, consistency, and related academic document tasks.
Although these tools are designed to identify and correct common document issues, automated processing may not identify, interpret, or correct every issue. Formatting requirements, citation standards, institutional policies, faculty requirements, supervisor instructions, and document structures differ, and some issues are deliberately flagged for your review rather than changed automatically.
SizaPoint does not warrant or guarantee that any document processed through the platform will be error-free, fully compliant with a particular institution's requirements, or accepted by an academic institution, supervisor, journal, or other third party, or that it will result in any particular academic outcome (a "no guarantee of academic outcomes" position).
You remain responsible for reviewing all changes, recommendations, and generated output before submitting or relying on a document. Where SizaPoint flags an issue as requiring your review, or cannot determine the appropriate correction with sufficient confidence, you are responsible for the final decision. Use of these tools does not replace your responsibility to comply with applicable institutional policies, academic-integrity requirements, submission guidelines, and instructions provided by lecturers, supervisors, or other relevant authorities.
9. Termination
You may stop using the Service and close your account at any time from your profile settings. We may suspend or terminate accounts that breach these Terms, our Acceptable Use Policy, or applicable law, or that we reasonably believe pose a security risk to the Service or other users.
10. Disclaimers and Limitation of Liability
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available." To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement, and we are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service, including academic outcomes.
To the extent permitted by law, this includes any loss or consequence arising from reliance on automated or AI-assisted output — such as document corrections, formatting, headings, numbering, citations, and references — which you are expected to review before relying on or submitting it.
Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be excluded under applicable law, including your rights under the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008 where it applies to you.
11. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be highlighted on this page with a new effective date and version number, and where required by law we will notify account holders directly before the change takes effect.
12. Governing Law
SizaPoint operates from the Republic of South Africa. These Terms, and any dispute arising out of or in connection with them, are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa, and you agree to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the South African courts.
If you use the Service from the European Union, the United Kingdom, or another jurisdiction whose mandatory consumer-protection or data-protection laws grant you rights or a forum that cannot be waived by agreement, nothing in this section removes those rights — they continue to apply alongside this clause.
Where you contract with us as a consumer, this agreement is concluded electronically under the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act 25 of 2002, and nothing in these Terms limits any right you have under the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008 or an equivalent consumer-protection law in your country of residence. South African consumers may refer an unresolved complaint, free of charge, to the Consumer Goods and Services Ombud (www.cgso.org.za) or the National Consumer Commission (thencc.org.za).
